About the association in Austria and Ghana

The association BRAVEAURORA was founded on March 3rd, 2009 in Linz, Upper Austria, by the four Austrians Julia Obereder M.A., Tamara Pottfay B.A. , Sarah Kotopulos M.A. and Dr. Christin ter Braak-Forstinger LL.M..

BRAVEAURORA Ghana was founded as an NGO in Accra in 2010. The background for this move is that a locally registered association facilitates contacts externally, with the local authorities (especially the Department of Social Welfare in Accra) as well as potential donors and cooperation-partners.

BRAVEAURORA – not just any name

The name of the association was not picked by accident. It consists of the English word "brave" and "aurora" (Latin for "dawn"). "In our opinion it is a perfect synonym for the brave orphans, who draw strength and courage from the glowing African morning-sun every day and believe in their chance for a better life", says the BRAVEAURORA Board.

The managing Board of BRAVEAURORA Austria is also represented in BRAVEAURORA Ghana. The Country Director of BRAVEAURORA Ghana is Baba Seidu, an entrepreneur living in Accra. Baba was born in Guabuliga, the very village supported by BRAVEAURORA with current development projects, and has lived for more than 20 years in the USA before returning to Ghana with his wife Julie and their children in early 2009.

BRAVEAURORA Ghana currently consists of two Directors and four Members of the managing board. Christin ter Braak-Forstinger and Baba Seidu act as country-directors for BRAVEAURORA Ghana. The managing-board consists of Sarah Kotopulos, Tamara Pottfay, Julia Obereder and Julie Seidu.
